Local businesses were getting bled dry by the big directories. So I built one that charges £1 a year and actually ranks.
The build
Checkatrade, Yell, and the rest charge local businesses hundreds a year for a listing that barely moves the needle. I watched trades and small shops pay it because there was no alternative. So I built the alternative.
Boroughly is a local business directory built borough by borough, structured so every listing is a real, indexable page that can rank for the searches people actually make. No pay-to-win rankings, no upsell ladder, £1 a year.
How it's built

The directory is organised the way people search, by area and trade. Every borough and category combination is its own indexable page, built to rank locally instead of fighting for one national keyword.

Each business gets a proper page with structured data, not a row in someone else's database. Search engines treat them like real websites, because they are.

At £1 a year the platform can't survive on squeezing listings, so it doesn't. The engineering is built for volume and low cost per listing, which is what makes the price possible.
